Japan today, 1 September, turned on a very impressive display of power hockey to crush hosts Hong Kong by a 14 goals to nil margin in a pool B match of the competition played at Kings Park Hong Kong.
With the half time score 8 - 0 Hong Kong had no answer to the free running Japanese and seldom got into scoring position.
All eyes are now on the danger team of the tournament Korea who open their account tomorrow, 2 September,against Chinese Taipei in another pool B encounter.
Korea have yet to qualify for next year’s Beijing Olympics and gave notice of their intentions here in Hong Kong with a 6 - 0 demolition of New Zealand in a friendly also played at Kings Park just four days prior to the tournament.
