Day 2 match 2 India vs Malaysia pool A
India proved much too strong for Malaysia in their entertaining but robust pool A encounter played at Kings Park Hockey Ground to win by an impressive 6 goals to nil margin.
India who have yet to qualify for next years Beijing Olympic Games will take heart from the result.
With the Malaysians closely marking the Indian forwards in the early stages of the game, the South Asian side was held to a 3-0 lead at half time with Deepka Thakur opening India’s account in the 4th minute through a penalty corner.
India’s second goal came from a beautifully worked move across the front of the the Malaysian goal that ended when Jasjeet Kaur scored.
Shortly before the interval Surinder Kaur slotted home India’s third goal in the 32nd minute.
Kaur then went on to score another three goals in the second half as India finished the game in cruise mode while the physical Malaysians battled to try and get back into the game.
