Day 2 match 3. Singapore vs China
Tournament favourites China totally overwhelmed lightweights Singapore in an extremely one sided pool A match played this evening at Kings Park hockey ground .
The 15 goals to nil score in China’s favour is also a new tournament goal scoring record, eclipsing the 14-0 drubbing that Japan gave Hong Kong in yesterday’s pool B fixture.
China toyed with the Singaporeans throughout the match with the half time score standing at 6-0 as the Chinese hockey juggernaut rolled on with the first three goals coming in just seven minutes.
Then resuming after the break, the floodgates really opened as China netted another nine goals in what turned into a scoring procession with Song Qing Ling netting another three to add to her first half goal. Li Hong Xia also found the back of the net four times during the match.
China’s thirteen field goals in the match served to emphasize their total superiority as Singapore had no answer to the rampaging Chinese forwards.
