6th Asia Cup Women’s Hockey Championship - Chinese Taipei v Hong Kong (1:0)

Match Review - <Official Match Report>
Day 8
Finals 7th & 8th positions.

Final score: Chinese Taipei 1 Hong Kong 0

The battle of tournament minnows saw Chinese Taipei scrape home with a last gasp goal scored by Lin Yi Ching in the 67th minute to snatch 7th place and relegate Hong Kong to 8th position as the finals got underway this morning, Sunday, in the 6th Asia Cup Womens Hockey Championships played at Kings Park, Hong Kong.

But quite frankly Hong Kong should have wrapped the game up much earlier but for several absolute "sitters" missed in both the first and second halves of the game as good feeds from both Sandra Frankland and Michele Heggli in the midfield were botched in front of an open Chinese Taipei goal and either shot wide or missed altogther.

Both sides were evenly matched for  possession throughout the lacklustre game and all penalty corners awarded were either saved or shot wide. Neither team achieved dominance during the game played end to end at a relatively slow pace.

And in the end Lin Yi Ching’s goal for Chinese Taipei, coming from an initial penalty corner conversion attempt that was missed altogther but then pulled back into the Hong Kong circle,  made all the difference at the final whistle.

Result: Chinese Taipei 1 : Hong Kong 0 (Goal scorers: Chinese Taipei, Lin Yi Ching)
